Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

Heard of EMDR but aren’t sure what it really does? This gentle, evidence-based therapy is designed to help you process and heal from trauma or other difficult life experiences.

Through a carefully guided process, we use bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or hand-held pulsators) while bringing up memories that have been holding weight in your mind and body. Over time, this can ease the distress these memories carry, helping them feel more manageable and less overwhelming.

Our brains are naturally wired to heal, but sometimes traumatic memories remain stuck, replaying their pain in the present through physiological sensations or intrusive thoughts. EMDR helps these memories find a new home, integrated with your current understanding, your compassion for yourself, and the forgiveness you’ve cultivated for your past. It’s a way of letting your mind process what it couldn’t before, so that your story can feel a little lighter, a little freer.

“Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.”
― Peter A. Levine

“The past affects the present even without our being aware of it.”
― Francine Shapiro
